Study Mission

COPE-PD (Community Outreach for Palliative Engagement Parkinson's Disease) is aimed at improving the standards of care and quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson's Disease (PD) or related conditions, as well as their families. Our mission is to achieve this goal through two key approaches:

Raising Awareness

We are dedicated to identifying and addressing the most crucial needs of patients and their families. By understanding your experiences, needs, and challenges, we can drive positive change in the field of palliative care.

Providing Support

Our commitment extends to offering support not only to patients but also to community neurologists. We believe that by empowering neurologists with valuable insights and resources, we can enhance the care provided to PD patients.

Commitment

As a valued participant, your commitment to the COPE-PD study involves:

  • 1 year of active participation
  • Completing surveys every 3 months
  • A compensation of $25 for each set of surveys, totaling $125 for both the patient and their care partner at the end of the year
  • An initial research coordinator session, lasting approximately 1–2 hours (but it can be shortened to 30 minutes if needed)
  • Completing the remaining 4 sets of surveys conveniently online or on paper, each taking approximately 15–30 minutes to complete

Benefits

Your experiences and insights are invaluable to the success of this research. By participating, you become an essential contributor to understanding what it's like to live with PD or care for someone who has PD. In addition to your contribution to the study, we offer you various benefits and additional support:

  • Access to tailored online sources
  • Participation in support groups
  • Consultations with various experts on our team, including pharmacists, psychiatrists, and counselors
